Thadlaskein- A pristine clean and clear lake is a popular picnic spot. Jakrem- A popular health resort having hot springs of sulphur water, believed to have curative medicinal properties. Dawki A border town, 96 kms. from Shillong gives you a glimpse of Bangladesh.

Best Time to Visit Meghalaya

The place is pleasant during summer which is from March to June. During rains (from july to September, the place is heavily rewarded with rains. Winter(October to February) - Chilly to Cold. Clothing: Summer - Tropical with light woollens are ideal and during Chilly days and Winter – Heavy Woolens are required.

How to Reach Meghalaya

Air: The state does not have any airport. The nearest airport is at Guwahati, which is only 128kms from Shillong the capital city of Meghalaya. A helicopter service operates between Guwahati, Shillong (30 min) and Tura (60 min), which is convenient and economical. Road Network in the state is quite efficient and covers the state conveniently. National Highway 40 runs through the state. The road connects Shillong with Guwahati, which in turn is connected to other major cities in rest of the country. Train: The state does not have any train service. The nearest railway station is Guwahati.
